MLS Soccer Preview: Los Angeles Galaxy-New York Red Bulls

February 4th, 2010 by Admin

The game on Saturday August 14 between Los Angeles Galaxy and the New York Red Bulls is going to be full of excitement for fans as well as for those into online soccer betting because of a few big names. Kickoff will be at 6:00 p.m. and the game will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel.

In the last several weeks, New York has made some major headlines across the MLS and the entire global soccer world by signing Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez. It was an interesting move to bring these two players from Barcelona F.C. to an American club.

Henry is one of the greatest French strikers of all time, while Marquez is the star of the Mexican national team. These two international stars promise to fill up the new Red Bull Arena almost to capacity. It is expected that more than 20,000 fans will show up at Red Bull Arena to watch Henry’s and Marquez’s second home game appearances. All of this talk about the new arrivals has overshadowed Red Bulls true star, Juan Pablo Angel. In fact, Angel has proved his striking abilities this season once again by scoring more than 10 goals in less than 20 games so far.

The clash of Los Angeles and New York will be a fight between the league’s best teams. The Galaxy come in with the best MLS record so far, while the Red Bulls are the second best in the Eastern conference. There are plenty of expectations on Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle to lead Los Angeles to a victory against New York. However, the question remains can the Galaxy handle the pressure of facing some of the biggest names in MLS?

Soccer Moves Training

February 2nd, 2010 by Admin

Learning to perform different soccer moves can be a long and complicated process. However, if you will follow a system then you can see rapid growth and improvement in your player’s soccer move training.

It is important to build a strong foundation for your players. Work on each move with both feet and focus on getting down the fundamentals. Work on simple moves like the pull back before moving on to more complicated moves.

As important as it is to develop good touch on the ball and confidence while dribbling, it is also necessary to learn the proper technique for kicking the ball. Too often players develop great skill with the ball, but lack the ability to shoot with accuracy and power. They can get open, but can’t finish. Teach the players how to properly load, perform a v swing and follow through.

No matter what you do, make the process fun. Use lots of games to keep your player’s interest level high and challenge them. Don’t just tell them to perform a move, give them a fun objective.

For example, have them dribble through a series of gates while performing moves. See how many they can perform in 60 seconds. Then repeat and see if each player can beat their first count.

As always, the more touches you can get your player’s to get on the ball, the quicker they will develop as soccer players. Repitition is the key so that players can perform the moves while watching the ball as little as possible.

Don’t underestimate the power of an early start as players should have most of the basic soccer moves down by the time they reach age 12.
